FAQ
How do painters charge, per square metre or per room?
Both are common in South Africa. Per square metre (R35-80/m2) gives accurate pricing for large areas. Per room (R1,500-4,000) is simpler for residential work. Choose whichever your client understands better and itemise it on the invoice.
Should I charge for paint separately?
Yes. Always separate materials (paint, primer, filler, tape) from labour on your invoice. This shows transparency and protects you if the client disputes pricing. Some painters mark up paint 10-20%; others charge at cost plus labour.
How do I invoice for a multi-day painting job?
