WhatsApp Billing

Send invoices and collect payments via WhatsApp. Your members get a payment link in their chat. They tap, pay, done. No chasing. No reminders.

Why WhatsApp?

9 out of 10 WhatsApp messages get opened. Email sits at 1 in 5. When you send an invoice on WhatsApp, people see it. When there's a payment link right there in the message, they pay.

The WhatsApp billing flow

1

You set it up once

Create a group on the wabill dashboard. Add member names and WhatsApp numbers. Set the amount and billing day.

2

wabill sends on billing day

Each member gets a WhatsApp message with their invoice and a payment link. Automatically. Every month.

3

Members tap and pay

The link opens a secure checkout. Card, instant EFT via Ozow, Capitec Pay, SnapScan, or Apple Pay.

4

You see it instantly

Payment confirmation appears on your dashboard in real time. No more 'Did they pay?' guessing.

Why not just send a WhatsApp message?

Many people try to bill via WhatsApp manually. They send a message that says “Please pay R2,000 rent by the 1st.” Here is why that doesn't work well:

ManualYou type a message to each person individually
wabillInvoices go out automatically on your billing day
ManualNo payment link, so members must EFT manually and send proof
wabillPayment link included. Tap, pay, confirmed automatically
ManualYou track who paid in your head or a spreadsheet
wabillDashboard shows paid/unpaid status in real time

FAQ

How does WhatsApp billing work?

You set up a billing group on the wabill dashboard with your members' WhatsApp numbers and billing amount. On your billing day, wabill automatically sends each member an invoice and payment link on WhatsApp. They tap the link, pay online (card, EFT, or QR), and the payment is confirmed on your dashboard.

Do my members need to install an app?

No. Members receive the invoice and payment link as a regular WhatsApp message. They tap the link, which opens a secure checkout page in their browser. No registration, no app download, no login required.

What if a member doesn't have WhatsApp?

WhatsApp is the delivery channel for invoices and payment links. If a member doesn't have WhatsApp, they won't receive the automated message. However, 94% of SA internet users have WhatsApp (DataReportal, 2025), so this covers the vast majority.

Can I bill different amounts to different members?

Yes. In open-list groups, each member can have a custom amount or use the group default. In slot-based groups, each slot has its own amount.
