Why WhatsApp?
94% of South African internet users have WhatsApp (DataReportal, 2025). Your members already check it every day. Sending invoices and payment links on WhatsApp means:
- No chasing: the invoice arrives on their phone automatically
- No app to install: members pay from a link in WhatsApp
- No missed emails: 9 out of 10 WhatsApp messages get opened, compared to 1 in 5 for email
- Works on WhatsApp bundles: cheap data for everyone
- Members can pay immediately: one tap from the message to checkout

No chasing, no reminders
The hardest part of billing a group is following up. “Did Thabo pay?” “Must I WhatsApp Mrs Nkosi again?” With wabill Collect, invoices go out automatically on your billing day. Members get a payment link. When they pay, it's confirmed instantly on your dashboard. No spreadsheets. No awkward follow-ups.
The problem with manual billing
- You forget to invoice someone. They don't pay on time
- You send a WhatsApp message but there's no payment link. They forget
- You track payments in a spreadsheet. It gets messy after 3 months
- You spend hours every month on admin instead of running your business
- Members claim they paid but you can't verify. No proof of payment
wabill Collect solves all of this. Automated invoices, built-in payment links, real-time tracking. You set it up once and the billing runs itself.
Getting started
- Sign up on the wabill dashboard
- Create a group and add your members
- Set the billing amount and schedule
- Your first billing cycle is free. See it in action before you pay
FAQ
What is recurring billing?
Recurring billing automatically sends invoices and payment links to the same group of people on a set schedule: monthly, weekly, or on a custom billing day. Instead of manually invoicing each person every month, you set it up once and wabill handles the rest via WhatsApp.
How do members pay?
Members receive a payment link on WhatsApp that takes them to a secure checkout. They can pay by card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), instant EFT via Ozow (supports all major SA banks), Capitec Pay, SnapScan, or Apple Pay. The payment is confirmed automatically.
Is it free to start?
Yes. You get 1 group, 5 members, and 1 billing cycle completely free, no card required. After your first billing cycle, plans start from R99/month depending on how many members you have.
What are the payment processing fees?
Processing fees are 2.9% + R1 for card payments and 2% for EFT via Ozow (both VAT exclusive). These fees are charged per transaction, not by wabill. There are no additional fees on top of your wabill plan.
Can I use this for stokvel or body corporate billing?
Yes. Any group that bills the same members regularly: stokvels, body corporates, gyms, schools, clubs, rental properties, or any subscription service. Set up a group, add members, choose your billing day, and wabill handles collection via WhatsApp.
